After almost one year of discussions, Sisban is delighted to announce the creation of a joint venture with Lebanese farming group Natagri under which Sisban will invest in upgrading processing facilities and become the exclusive international agent for their Lebanese grapes to the European and UK markets.
The deal comes after a long period of market study by Sisban, which is looking to expand the geographical scope of its business to fulfill all year round market demand for its products. Key to the deal has been the agreement for Sisban to invest in upgrading Natagri’s packaging and processing facilities, as well as making improvements in farming methods, to ensure that Natagri’s products meet Sisban’s high product quality requirements for its international clients.
Our technical and operational teams have spent time in Lebanon since 2020 reviewing Natagri’s assets and processes to prepare for the deal in readiness for the 2021 season. This involved an open exchange of our experience and know-how with the Lebanese team. This new investment was a huge challenge for us, but it has created a great market advantage because the Lebanese season comes in a great slot where there is high market demand and the Egyptian season is ending.
